The symptoms of dry eyes can be very mild or quite debilitating.  Michael Lange OD, has been using Natural dry eye treatment for his patients for 20 years with great success.  He has compiled a list that has helped 1000s of dry eye patients;

1. Take 1600 mg of a good triglyceride form omega 3 fish oil like Fortifeye Super Omega. This form of omega 3 fish oil will help to improve the Meibomian gland functioning and secrete a healthier outer lipid layer of the tear film.  Take 1600 mg a day if you weigh less than 200 lbs and take 3-4 per day if you are heavier.

Michael Lange OD develops genotype-directed nutritional therapy for macular degeneration

Michael Lange OD has developed the first zinc free genotype-directed supplement for macular degeneration.

Dr. Michael Lange Optometrist and talk show host

Michael Lange OD, CNS has developed genotype-directed nutritional therapy for macular degeneration patients.

Michael Lange OD has been involved in the research and development of nutritional supplements for eye care for nearly 20 years he has followed all of the studies related to nutrition, DNA and Macular degeneration very closely. He has developed an entire line of genotype-directed supplements for macular degeneration under Fortifeye Vitamins name.

Dr. Langes most recent development is a zinc free antioxidant for macular degeneration patients in response to new study recently published. The newest studies suggest that a percentage of macular degeneration patients with specific genotypes may actually be harmed by taking zinc and some may benefit from taking zinc and antioxidants. The only way to determine whether zinc is good or bad is to have a genetic DNA test for macular degeneration. This is a simple in office DNA test that will determine what…

Antioxidants and zinc in Age related Macular Degeneration by Michael Lange OD, CNS

I think most Optometrists and ophthalmologists will now agree that nutritional supplements are beneficial for macular degeneration patients. AREDS 1 and AREDS 2 studies have helped us to determine what is good and what is bad for our patients.  There are also many other good nutritional studies that influence the optometrist or ophthalmologist in a specific nutritional regiment. I think most nutritional eye care experts will agree that beta-carotene, synthetic high dosages of vitamin e, high dosage of zinc oxide, F, D and C red, yellow and blue dye are all bad in an eye vitamin.  Many studies are now linking potential beneficial effects of resveratrol, lutein, zeaxanthin, astaxanthin, coq-10, acetyl l carnatine, alpha lipoic acid, B complex, green tea polyphenols, taurine, bilberry, blueberry, vitamin D3, triglyceride form omega 3 fish oil and many more to retinal health.

Genetic testing is now coming into play when making recommendations of specific nutritional supplements for macular degeneration.  A patient can now walk into an eye doctors office and have a specific genetic test done that will help the doctor to determine what specific antioxidants  may or may not be beneficial for their macular degeneration. A very recent analysis of a genetic database of patients in the AREDS study supports the pharmacogenomic selection of nutritional supplements for macular degeneration.  This analysis found that patients with certain specific genotypes  may react differently to zinc.  Some of these patients  react favorably to the intake of zinc along with antioxidants and some react negatively to zinc when combined with antioxidants.  Patients will need to get a genetic test done to help determine whether or not they should be on a zinc free eye vitamin or an eye vitamin with zinc.

Fortifeye Vitamins has always stayed abreast of the changing nutritional times and have updated their formulas 10 times over the last seven years based on the most recent science.  Fortifeye is about  to release a zinc free eye vitamin for macular degeneration.  This supplement will contain all of the latest nutritional science in one bottle.  A certain group of patients that have genetic testing done for macular degeneration will be in the need of an antioxidant that has no zinc. This Fortifeye Zinc free macular degeneration vitamin will be available by the end of   September 2013.  call 866 503 9746 or  www.fortifeye.com , this is an evolving area of nutritional eye care that I will keep everyone posted on my talk show “ask the dr” and thru various publications on the internet.  Michael Lange OD, CNS

Eye vitamins with no zinc and vitamins with no zinc viewpoint by Michael Lange OD

Eye vitamins with no zinc and vitamins with no zinc are becoming more readily available  since many large studies now indicate that a percentage of the population may be harmed by high dosages of zinc states Michael Lange OD, CNS .  Dr. Michael Lange is the founder of Lange Eye Care and Associates a large private practice consisting of nine eye care centers in Florida.  Lange Eye Care has the very latest in medical, surgical, optical and nutritional eye care . Michael Lange OD states that Lange Eye Care is one of the largest nutritional eye care centers in the country and this is what really sets us apart from the other optometrists and ophthalmologists.   Patients want to see doctors that will discuss what foods to eat and which ones to avoid , what vitamins to take and what vitamins to avoid states Dr Lange.  Michael Lange OD is an expert in the field of nutritional eye care and has always been a little concerned with the high dosages of zinc that have been recommended for patients with macular degeneration.  The highest amount of zinc in a supplement I would ever recommend for a patient with macular degeneration is about 40 mg. The doctor must look carefully at the patient and take many things into consideration like what systemic health problems, current medications and vitamins, allergies, ocular health, weight, mental status,  urological and prostate health, blood tests, genetic tests and many other factors before deciding how much zinc is beneficial.  Some people may benefit from eye vitamins with no zinc and vitamins with no zinc. So there are many factors that must be considered when recommending zinc or no zinc vitamins for patients with macular degeneration. We know a certain percentage of macular degeneration patients need zinc. Lange Eye Care is staying abreast of the changing times in nutrition and is working with Fortifeye vitamins on continuous nutritional eye research. Fortifeye is working on an eye vitamin with no zinc.  Fortifeye will soon have eye vitamins with four different levels of zinc that can be recommended by physicians to their patients based on the many factors mentioned. Stay in tune with the latest on zinc research at http://www.fortifeye.com.   Fortifeye vitamins with no zinc will be available soon.

eye vitamins without zinc and vitamins without zinc, by Michael Lange OD

EYE VITAMINS WITHOUT ZINC AND VITAMINS WITOUT ZINC

Michael Lange OD, CNS,  7/27/2013

Our knowledge of supplementing with zinc has changed dramatically over the years.  Zinc in high dosages can be toxic to the body especially the urinary tract, brain, prostate and the retina.  Eye vitamins without zinc today are hard to find.  Multivitamins without zinc are equally hard to find on todays vitamin shelves.  I personally recommend no one taking higher than 40 mg of zinc in a supplement do to the potential toxic side effects. The new AREDS 2 STUDY INDICATES THAT SUPER HIGH DOSING OF ZINC IS NOT NECESSARY FOR RETINAL HEALTH. AREDS 2 study also indicated lutein and zeaxanthin are good for macular degeneration and beta carotene is bad.  So when looking for an eye vitamin make sure there is no beta carotene in it and it has at least 10 mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin or more.  A new supplement I think has some great health benefits for the eye and the overall health is astaxanthin at 6 mg.  New science suggests that a certain population may want to take vitamins without zinc and eye vitamins without zinc.  Fortifeye Vitamins stays abreast of the changing times and is in the process of coming out with an eye vitamin without zinc .  So stay tuned to this site for more information on eye vitamins without zinc.  You will be able to order  your vitamins without zinc at www.fortifeye.com in the near future.  So stay tuned!

Fortifeye Vitamins is developing a zinc free eye vitamin and a zinc free vitamin for the people that can not tolerate zinc.  Zinc may be contraindicated in many people with specific types of systemic disease and even certain types of eye disease.  Zinc free eye vitamins will be available in the near future through Fortifeye Vitamins.  Fortifeye will also have a zinc free vitamin to be used as a multi vitamin.  All of Fortifeye Vitamins are beta-carotene free.  Fortifeye Vitamins took all beta-carotene out of their vitamins four years ago after they completed a small research study.  AREDS 2 study proved that supplemental beta carotene was bad for macular degeneration patients.  AREDS 2 study also proved that 80 mg of zinc is not necessary for macular degeneration patients.  Most nutritional experts agree that 40mg of zinc on a daily basis is safe.  However some patients may be sensitve to zinc and may  ultimately benefit from a zinc free supplement.  Stay in contact with Fortifeye at www.fortifeye.com and like us on facebook at www.facebook.com/fortifeye
